There’s something about the Milkyway Core that can drag you out of bed on even the coldest of nights in the hope of photographing our amazing galaxy. My aim with this casual meet up is to grow the UK night photography community and to show people how amazing our nights skies are.

I’ve decided to host it at arguably one of the most Iconic locations in the UK, Durdle Door. Not only is it super iconic, it looks out into the English Channel making for some super dark skies. It will be a good chance to meet up with people that you speak to on Instagram and capture some incredible images.

The Meeting location will be on the Durdle door beach at 01:30am on March 30th. This will give us all enough time to set up and for me to help anyone that requires some assistance before the Milkyway Core rises from the Horizon at 02:10am. The Milkyway Core will keep rising until 03:43am which is when the moon will make an appearance and will slightly wash out the night sky meaning you won't get as much detail.

I do ask if you’re attending the meet to try keep any lights or head torches to a minimum so not to spoil everybody else’s images. You will also be personally responsible for your own safety so please be aware of the very large cliffs!

After the meet, I will be running a competition on Instagram where I’ll choose my favourite image taken on the night. The winner will have their image printed on A3 Paper and sent to them by myself. Come down, bring yourself a hot drink, socialise with other creatives and shoot those classic Durdle Door vibes with some amazing dark skies.
