North Wales Astromeet

Hi Team,

The Meeting location is the St Cwyfan Church Beach at 10:30pm on Friday August 2nd.

This will give us all enough time to set up and for me to help anyone that requires some assistance. We can talk techniques, compositions and settings.

Full darkness is at 00:15am where the Milkyway will be at its highest in the Sky, this will be the best time to photograph the Milkyway in my opinion. After this the it will keep dropping lower throughout the night until 02:20 where night time finished and twilight begins.

There are some parking spots near by, but spaces are limited. Itโ€™s commonly said to be best to leave the car and walk from the village centre, it'll take less than 15 mins to reach it on foot from the main village car park on the common. On google the two closer locations are easily found after going down what look like slightly narrow gravel roads so itโ€™s up to you lot. If you do park down there please park responsibly as access is needed for the farm at the end.

I do ask if youโ€™re attending the meet, please try to use a red head torch light so not to ruin peoples night vision as it can take 40 minutes for your eyes to adjust. If you need to use a torch I recommend using a phone screen on full brightness for looking at camera buttons etc or a head torch on lowest power as a last option.

You will also be personally responsible for your own safety, so please be aware of the tide which will be at its highest point at 11:30pm and also for the rocks leading down to the beach as they may be slippery.

After the meet, I will be running a competition on Instagram where Iโ€™ll choose my favourite image taken on the night. The winner will have their image printed on A4 Paper and sent to them by myself. Come down, bring yourself a hot drink, socialise with other creatives and shoot the amazing dark skies.
